Furniture making and cabinetry in Perthshire
Made to measure for the room it will live in: farmhouse tables, benches, beds, boxes and fitted shelving, planed and finished in the workshop in Bankfoot.
Start with the room
Tell Craig where the piece will stand, who will use it and roughly what you have in mind. A sketch on the back of an envelope and a couple of measurements are plenty to begin.
Photos of the room help too. A table that seats eight in a long farmhouse kitchen is a different thing from one squeezed into a bay window.

Kists, presses and settles
Scotland has its own names for the furniture people have always needed. A kist is a chest for blankets and keepsakes. A press is a cupboard built into a recess in the wall. A settle is a long bench with arms and a high back.
Call it what you like. If it's storage, seating or a table, built to fit, it's the kind of thing the workshop makes.

Fitted shelving and cabinetry
Awkward spaces are where fitted work earns its keep. This shelving was built in solid wood under a sloping pine-clad ceiling, with dovetails left showing at the base.

Send a sketch, a photo of the room, a measurement
The quickest way to find out what a piece needs is a text with a few photos. Craig will look at them and get back to you.
Or, in his own words, "feel free to phone for an estimate or just for some advice."
- The whole piece, standing on its own feet
- The damage, close up, in good daylight
- Underneath a seat or the back of a carcase, if you can
- Any maker's label or stamp you find
